The 2005 U.S. Open winner and her fiancé, basketball star Brian Lynch, are expecting
Tennis ace Kim Clijsters and her fiancé, basketball star Brian Lynch, are expecting their fist child, according to her father.
Clijsters’s dad, Lei, announced on his Web site that the tennis champ is pregnant and due to give birth early next year.
“If everything goes well, Kim will be a mom and I a grandfather next year,” he wrote.
Clijsters and Lynch are scheduled to get married on Saturday in her hometown of Bree, in the north of Belgium.
The 24-year-old tennis star, who won the U.S. Open in 2005, announced that she would retire from tennis in May after a long list of injuries and diminishing motivation on her part.
In 2003 she became the first Belgian to be No. 1 in the world of tennis. Lynch, who is originally from New Jersey, plays basketball professionally in Europe.
