When a cop tells you “I’ve got some good news and some bad news,” it’s probably the bad news that you’re going to remember. In this case, however, the good news happened to be the surprise of a lifetime for Saukville, Wisconsin, teen Audra Daniloff.

Sure, the cop hands her tickets – but they turn out to be one good for a flight to New York and another to see her favorite band, Timeflies, in concert. Daniloff, 17, is understandably shocked, but what makes it all the more poignant is how the incident came about.

Audra’s father, Marc, orchestrated the surprise in the wake of a rough year for Audra. She was diagnosed with and treated for the autoimmune disease hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a blood disorder. And while it’s tough to top the euphoria of your child’s overcoming a life-threatening disease, Marc decided to try – and it looks like he succeeded.

According to a WITI news interview with Marc, Audra is in recovery and plans to attend college next year.
