Hey Taylor Swift, Here's the Guide to Coachella You Didn't Know You Needed
Coachella – the most iconic music festival of year and your premiere venue to spot celebrities wearing truly insane things while they dance around the desert – is upon us once more. This year, we’re getting a new addition to the flower crown-topped crowd: the one and only Taylor Swift.
And while Swift has already decided to let her hair down this weekend with a rock and roll-inspired dye job, we want to make sure that she can make the most of her time at Coachella, so she can enjoy Calvin Harris‘ headlining set on Sunday, to its fullest. After all, there’s more to festival planning than simply breaking out your shortest skirt and brightest lipstick.
So, Taylor, here are a few things for you to keep in mind this year:
LEAVE YOUR HEELS AT HOME
Look, we know “Taylor Swift” and “sky high heels” are practically synonymous at this point, but Coachella is not the time or the place for your favorite pair of pumps. That doesn’t mean, however, that your choice of footwear can’t be complicated and high-fashion. Like say, Fergie’s thigh-high fringe covered boots or Kendall’s thigh-high combat boots, or even a pair of those insane thigh-high gladiator sandals (basically, go thigh-high or go home, is what we’re saying.)
OR, IF YOU’RE FEELING REALLY BRAVE, DITCH THE SHOES ENTIRELY
Hey, there’s no better way to get in touch with your boho side. Just ask the Queen of Coachella herself, Vanessa Hudgens.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF A LITTLE DYE
While we’re still freaking out over your newly platinum locks, we think that you could get even more into the Coachella spirit with some bright (temporary!) dye. Take a cue from Hailey Baldwin, or, if you don’t feel like committing to another major change, just go for an eye-catching wig, Kylie Jenner-style.
PUT FLOWERS (OR FEATHERS OR DREAMCATCHERS OR WHATEVER) IN YOUR HAIR
Coachella is all about the hair accessories. Flower crowns are the style of choice (just ask Jaden Smith), but cat ears, jeweled headbands or just an entire dream catcher work just as well.
Or, if you’re feeling a little less adventurous, but still want to capture that Coachella-headwear vibe, grab a hat. Any hat. Perhaps this hat:
See? Stylish and functional.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CROP TOP
Luckily, you’ve got an entire wardrobe of crop tops to choose from, so we’d say you’re pretty set on this step. Feel free to pair it with your favorite flared skirt, some Daisy Dukes, or just really go for it with a pair of see-through pants. You know, whatever you feel like.
PRACTICE YOUR PERFECT SQUAD SELFIE
362 days of the year, you’re the queen of squad pictures – trust us, we’ve spent a lot of time on your Instagram – but when it comes to capturing your time at Coachella, you’re going to need to get creative. Send a quick text to the models in your squad, actually. They’ve already got this step down:
DANCE LIKE NOBODY’S WATCHING, EVEN THOUGH EVERYONE IS
We have no concerns about your ability to nail this step. After all, isn’t this what you’ve been practicing for, all of the years you’ve danced your heart out in the front row of award shows?
OH, AND ONE MORE WORD OF WARNING:
Think very carefully about whether or not you really want to continue your current jumpsuit fashion streak at Coachella. It might seem cool in theory, but when you have to try and unzip it in a Port-A-Potty, well, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
