"You're just as pretty as your pictures," the singer told the 4-year-old from San Antonio, Texas, during their FaceTime chat
Jalene Salinas has checked most things off her bucket list since being diagnosed with a tumor in April 2014.
She’s built a snowman, seen sand for the first time, gone to school and had a spa party with her sister.
But she still hadn’t met Taylor Swift – until now, that is.
On Monday night, the singer granted the 4-year-old San Antonio, Texas, girl’s final wish, chatting with the family for 20 minutes on a call via FaceTime, KENS5 reports.
On Saturday, Jalene’s mother told PEOPLE that her daughter was having a bad day and unable to attend a benefit to raise funds for her medical expenses.
“She woke up not being able to walk and she’s very unstable, but she’s still responding and she’s still able to talk,” Jennifer Arriagas said.
Arriagas added that every now and then Jalene asks, “Mom, do I get to dance with Taylor today?”
The family wasn’t sure if they were going to hear from the singer, but their Texas community has been Tweeting using the hashtag #ShakeItOffJalene and tagging Swift to get her to grant Jalene’s wish.
“I’m so sorry you’re having a bad night,” Swift said during their call. “I’m so happy you like ‘Shake It Off.’ ”
“You look beautiful tonight, you really do,” she went on to say. “You’re just as pretty as your pictures.”
Swift had her team call Jalene’s family as soon as she got back from London and heard about the wish. They told Arriagas that Swift was going into a rehearsal at 6 p.m. and wanted to call Jalene in between.
“I was just excited and speechless,” Arriagas said in a thank-you video she posted after the call.
The call completed her wish list.
“Everyone in the car with me is crying right now,” Taylor said on the call.
Jalene herself had a message for Swift, saying in a thank-you video posted online afterward, “Love y’all.”
