Long, long before she burned button-downs, destroyed cars and – most notably – stood on a horse in her music video for “Blank Space,” Taylor Swift proved her on-camera talent in a decidedly different film project.

There are no handsome boys, mascara-stained meltdowns or, unfortunately, horses in her 8th grade Investigative Studies project, which showcases the superstar-to-be in an amateur ad for Paco’s Paradise Smoothies.

In a YouTube video of her junior high assignment, Swift, now 24, enters the video around the 0:52 mark. (The video has been around since at least 2008, making the rounds on fan forums, but it’s recently resurfaced on Reddit, according to BuzzFeed.)

And while Swift is certainly enjoying her time in the spotlight now, her role in this Paco’s Paradise Smoothies is, well, not so front-and-center.

“Would you like a drink from Paco’s tiki bar?” she says in the mock ad.

And if you’re sitting there asking yourself, “Is that really Tay?” look no further than the credits. Oh wait, who’s “Talyor Swift”?

Yup, it’s hard to believe there was a time when a young teen named “Talyor” played Island Girl 1.

So what’s cuter: Her class project or her performance of the National Anthem at age 12?
