Sometimes we spend our Saturdays lounging around in sweatpants looking at pictures of cats on Instagram. Other times, we reach for our favorite tube of red lipstick and find the nearest stadium full of 60,000 Taylor Swift fans.

This weekend, we chose the latter – it turns out that watching Swift abracadabra New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium into her own personal/magical parallel universe beats stretchy fabric. But before we entered that world of twinkling light-up bracelets and scream-alongs (everybody knows it is improper form to merely sing “Bad Blood”), we spent the afternoon #TAYLORgating; you know, it’s like tailgating, but with shirts that say “this sick beat.”

Spoiler alert: We met many, many, many Swifties and the leader of the #SwansGoals flock, the founder of The Squad, the only person who could possibly convince us to not wear sweatpants on a Saturday: Taylor Swift, IRL. //storify.com/peoplemag/taylorgating.js?header=none&border=falseView the story “#TAYLORgating: In Which We Met Many, Many Fans (and Taylor Swift!)” on Storify
