19 Reasons to Love Taylor Lautner
19. HE'S ON THE MONEY
18. HE LOOKS GOOD WET
And the winner of this wet T-shirt contest is ... Lautner, who makes a splash as Malibu's finest during his December 2009 Rolling Stone cover shoot – where the interviewer gushes over the Twilight star's "eight-pack abs and tan, chiseled face."
17. HE LOOKS GOOD IN A SUIT
Lautner commanded the Eclipse red carpet last summer in a
plethora of dapper looks, from the light gray Calvin Klein suit he wore in
New York to the Gucci ensemble he rocked in Los Angeles. Of his look, the
actor told InStyle, "I like to be cool and comfortable but have a
16. HE FLEXES HIS MUSCLES
At 16, Lautner was told he was too young and too thin to fill the role of a much-larger Jacob in the Twilight sequel. But he stayed focused, packed on more than 30 lbs. of muscle and kept his starring shot in New Moon. "Now I'm a big bad wolf!" he said.
15. HE'S A LEADING MAN
14. HE'S A MUSE
After a brief courtship with Valentine's Day costar Taylor Swift, the Twilight hunk left such an impression on the singer that she reportedly wrote "Back to December" as an "apology" to him. "This is about a person who was incredible to me – just perfect to me in a relationship – and I was really careless with him," she said of the confessional song.
13. HE'S A DAREDEVIL
The four-time Xtreme Martial Arts world champ (who can flip mid-air!) is never idle onset. "I'll usually just find things and ask them if I can do it," he has said of performing his own movie stunts. "What can I hop over? What can I hop off of? How can I show Jacob's agility after his transformation into a wolf?"
12. HE'S GOT A GOOD HEART
11. HE HAD A 5-YEAR PLAN
A 13-year-old Lautner got his big break in 3-D as Sharkboy in 2005's The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Fast-forward five years, the actor (and avid football player) is set to star in the sci-fi action movie Max Steel.
10. HE'S A PACK LEADER
9. HE'S AWARD-WORTHY
"He's a man now," says Kellan Lutz of his bulked up costar. And now that Lautner's 19, who wouldn't agree? Certainly not his fans, who named him their favorite breakout star (and favorite onscreen team with costars Pattinson and Stewart) at the People's Choice Awards. "This really means a lot to me," he said in his acceptance speech. "It wouldn't have happened without you guys, the people ... you've done so much for me!"
8. HE'S A CROWD PLEASER
"I get nervous trying to represent Team Jacob in the right way," says
Lautner, pictured with fans at the Italian premiere of Eclipse in
Rome last June. "The fans would love anybody who played Jacob," the humble
hunk has said. "I'm just lucky to be the one who got the chance.
7. HE EVEN LOOKS GOOD IN A WIG
On a lesser hunk, Jacob's wig could look downright goofy. "[The wig] would get caught in my mouth, and I would be spitting it out in this scene where I'm coming close to kissing Bella," Lautner admitted. "It was annoying."
6. HE LOOKS COOL ON A BIKE
When Kristen Stewart's Bella crashes her bike in New Moon, it's Lautner who revs his engine to come to her rescue. "Yes, I rode the dirt bike for a total of about five seconds in the film," he said, "but, for those five seconds, I had to look as cool as possible."
5. HE'S GOT HOLLYWOOD FANS
Kim Kardashian is a devoted Team Jacob fan, and so is Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, Lautner's costar in Valentine's Day. "This guy walks up to me and he goes 'Hey ... I'm a huge fan. Is there any way I can get a picture with you. I'm Jamie Foxx," Lautner recalls. "I was like, 'Are you kidding me? Can I get a picture with you?'"
4. HE'S ABS-OLUTELY RIPPED
3. HE'S LOYAL
2. HE'S IN ON THE JOKE
Lautner gamely switched teams (and sexes!) to poke fun at himself for a hilarious Twilight skit on SNL. Going drag, the actor played a loyal "Team Edward" girl who debated an equally devoted "Team Jacob" fan.
1. HE'S DOWN TO EARTH
Despite his hunky looks, box office clout and adoring fans, Taylor Lautner doesn't let any of it get to his head. "The thing I love is that my home life hasn't changed," says the Valencia, Calif., native, who chips in with chores at his parents' home. "I still help out with the garbage," he adds. "I still help out with the lawn."
