Another year older, another friend richer.

Tatum O’Neal turned 52 on Thursday and marked the occasion by gushing about her close friendship with Rosie O’Donnell

“BIRTHDAY Proud to have such generous human being in my corner,” O’Neal wrote on Instagram next to a black and white photo of herself smiling broadly with O’Donnell.

The social media shout-out comes just days after O’Neal and O’Donnell, 53, strolled the red carpet together at Monday night’s Rosie’s Theater Kids Gala, with a source telling PEOPLE that the Oscar winner attended “to support her friend.”

O’Donnell and O’Neal began dating over the summer. Though a rep for O’Donnell has said the two were never in a relationship, telling PEOPLE “they’re friends,” the pair seemed to have split last month after much “tumult” in O’Donnell’s personal life, according to a source.

Still, the duo have been unabashed in expressing their affection for each other online, including sharing photos of one other last Friday.
