Ridley Scott’s new epic “Gladiator” has just finished shooting battle scenes that are so realistic that they ended up on the front pages of some British papers. “The scenes were done in a muddy Surrey forest with 1,000 extras,” a witness tells The PEOPLE Daily, “Roman Legions and Germanic hordes, tromping through sludge.” The film stars Russell Crowe and Oliver Reed. The film is moving on to Morocco and then other locations, and the art department has already built a replica of the Roman Coliseum in Malta.
