It’s official: Love is love.

On Friday morning, the Supreme Court delivered a historic decision, ruling 5 to 4 that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry no matter where they live in the United States. The decision found that states may no longer only forbid homosexual couples from marrying.

“Today is a big step in our march toward equality. Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #Love Wins,” President Obama Tweeted after the decision was announced this morning.

Celebrities and politicians on Twitter followed suit, posting messages of joy and excitement. Unsurprisingly, not everyone was pleased by the ruling – Mike Huckabee released a statement blasting the decision, stating, “I will not acquiesce to an imperial court.”

But overall, the feeling on the Internet was celebratory and unabashedly emotional soon after the decision was handed down: //
