“Suddenly Susan” co-star David Strickland, who apparently committed suicide by hanging himself in a Las Vegas motel room, had been arrested for cocaine possession and was supposed to be in court the day his body was found. Strickland, 29, was arrested Oct. 31 for possession of cocaine and pleaded no contest on Dec. 21, court records show. He was put on 36-month probation and ordered into rehabilitation. He was to have appeared in a Los Angeles court Monday for a progress report. His body was discovered at approximately 10:30 a.m. that day by an Oasis Motel employee, said police Lt. Wayne Petersen. Reports say that the actor had checked into the Oasis (which features X-rated movies in its rooms) early Monday morning, after having partied at a topless club. The New York Post quotes the Oasis’ owner as saying that around midnight Strickland had spent 20 minutes with a prostitute in her room at the Oasis.

  • Filming of “Suddenly Susan” has been suspended for a week. Series star Brooke Shields said in a statement, “I am devastated by the loss of my best friend, whose talent and humor graced all who knew him.”
