Barbra Streisand, Omar Sharif and Sony CEO John Calley were reportedly in bed with the flu last night — separately — preventing them from attending a special West Coast screening of a restored version of the 1968 “Funny Girl.” The film, which stars Streisand and Sharif, marked her movie debut and won an Oscar for her (she shared it in a rare tie for best actress with Katharine Hepburn, for “The Lion in Winter”). The screening took place at the Egyptian Theater, which is where the lavish musical originally premiered in Hollywood, reports Variety. Attendees included producer Ray Stark (whose mother-in-law, Fanny Brice, is the subject of the movie) and the film’s choreographer, Herbert Ross.
