Steve Irwin was beloved by fans and animal activists everywhere — and no one knows that better than his wife.

Terri Irwin took to Twitter on Friday to honor her late husband with a touching tribute on National Superhero Day.

“Celebrating my #NationalSuperheroDay,” she captioned a shot of the adored wildlife expert, who died on Sept. 4, 2006 at the age of 44 after being attacked by a stingray off the coast of northern Australia while working on the documentary series Ocean’s Deadliest.

Steve and Terri, 52, wed in 1992 and had two children together over the course of their marriage: daughter Bindi Irwin, now 18, and son Robert, now 13.

Last year, Terri revealed to The Australian Women’s Weekly that she hasn’t been on a “single date” since Steve’s passing.

“If I hadn’t met Steve, I probably would never have married because I wasn’t looking for love when I met him,” she said. “What we had was incredible.”

She also commemorated her late husband on Thanksgiving, penning a heartfelt tribute on Twitter.

“Thankful. 14 years of adventure and two beautiful children,” she captioned a family photo from back in the day. “Thank you to all @wildwarriors keeping Steve’s legacy alive.”
