Say “hello” to your new Miss Universe!

Miss Philippines (aka, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach) beat 79 other contestants from around the world to take home the coveted crown Sunday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

However, the winning announcement wasn’t without some drama. Host Steve Harvey accidentally said that the winner was Miss Colombia (aka Ariadna Gutierrez) and she was nearly crowned, but the winner was actually Miss Philippines. When Alonzo Wurtzbach was confirmed to be the actual winner, news definitely caused a stunned reaction onstage.

And fans on Twitter shared in the disbelief.

This year’s pageant saw its fair share of drama, before the competition even began.

In September, presidential hopeful Donald Trump announced that he had bought out NBC and now owns all of the Miss Universe Organization. The news came three months after the network dropped the Miss USA pageant following Trump’s controversial comments about Mexicans and Latinos.

However, the ladies didn’t let the headlines spoil their fun.

Ahead of the lavish event, the contestants took to social media, showcasing their more natural side.

Using the hashtag #ConfidentlyBeautiful, the pageant hopefuls uploaded makeup-free selfies to Twitter.

Last year’s winner, Paulina Vega, also from Colombia, kicked off the trend through the Miss Universe Twitter account on Wednesday with her own fresh-faced selfie, and asked this year’s contestants to join in.

“Every #MissUniverse is #ConfidentlyBeautiful. Are you? Show us your no-makeup selfies with #ConfidentlyBeautiful,” Vega wrote alongside her snap.

Many of the pageant hopefuls quickly followed suit. Australia’s Monika Radulovic, Hilda Frimpong of Ghana and Argentina’s Claudia Barrionuevo all took to Twitter to flaunt their makeup-free faces.
