Stephanie March, actress and ex-wife of Bobby Flay, has opened up about the whirlwind year she’s had since finalizing her divorce after 10 years of marriage.

In an interview with The New Potato, March reveals the best advice she’s ever received and reflects on the events of recent months.

“The best advice I ever received was this year: ‘Now is not the time to stop being the person you always have been,” she said. “People show up for you because of who you are, not what you can do for them.’ And she was right. I am utterly blessed with good friends and family.”

At the same time, the newly single March acknowledges that while she’s blessed to have the support system she has, this year has been a tough one.

“This year? It’s been quite a year,” she said. “My holiday is going to consist only of hugging everyone I love 1000 times over, while holding a bottomless glass of champagne and stuffing my face with cheese biscuits. Life is short.”

Admittedly, after the year she’s had, March deserves it.

In early April, her then husband, Flay, filed for divorce after what was reportedly months of trying to mend the couple’s relationship.

Their divorce was finalized in July.
