Now they could be granted membership again. Yesterday it was announced that the two have shots as making it as solo artists in the Hall, which released its list of nominees for 2000. Winners, who are chosen by members of the music industry, are expected to be inducted into the Hall next March. The 16 other acts nominated include AC/DC, Patti Smith, Bob Seger, the New York Dolls, Brenda Lee and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Resurfacing for recognition on the ballots (after having failed to gain admission to the Hall in the past) are Aerosmith, Queen, Black Sabbath, Lou Reed, Steely Dan, the Flamingoes, Solomon Burke and the late Ritchie Valens.
