Reba McEntire, Lance Bass and More Reach Out to Céline Dion As Stars Tweet Their Prayers and Condolences

After news broke that René Angélil died on Thursday, stars have taken to Twitter, flooding his wife Céline Dion, 43, with their well-wishes and prayers.

Celebrities including Larry King, Maria Menounos, Lance Bass, Josh Groban, Gloria Estefan, LeAnn Rimes and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – reached out through social media.

Country star Reba McEntire wrote: “My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Celine and her family on the passing of Ren . He fought a long hard battle.”

A rep for Angélil confirmed his death in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE.

“René Angélil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” the rep said. “The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment.”

After learning of his death, singer Yolanda Adams shared her support on Twitter. “Condolences to @CelineDion on the loss of her husband #RenéAngélil Please pray for her & their children,” Adams wrote.

Josh Groban also tweeted: “Rene spoke softly but carried monumental respect. Some of my first moments in this biz are because of him. Love to Celine & their children.”.

Angélil, who worked as Dion’s manager and mentor before the two married in 1994, had three children with his protégée – René-Charles, 12, and 5-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy. He’s also the father of Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre, his adult children from previous marriages.
