American trash-talk meister Jerry Springer is going legit, but only in Britain, Variety reports. The ITV network has picked up four episodes of Springer’s new night-time variety series. But instead of the cross-dressers and hatemongers showcased on daytime’s “The Jerry Springer Show” (also broadcast in the U.K.), “Springer on Sunday” in Britain will follow the format of U.S. late night talks shows and include a monologue, comedy sketches and celebrity interviews. Springer is looking forward to his trip across the pond, saying, “Here, I’m the devil incarnate. There, I’m not. In a sense, they (the British) ‘get’ the show more there. They understand its humor. No one there sees the show as anything but what it is: camp, circus.”
