Sporty Spice Mel C has admitted that the Spice Girls were to blame for unleashing a flood of terrible pop music that saturated the British charts. In an interview littered with swear words, and without mentioning any names, Melanie Chisholm told the New Musical Express (a British music publication) she would not choose to listen to most of the pop groups inspired by the Spice Girls. Mel, who will re-launch herself as a solo rock singer at this weekend’s V99 festival in England, said she would rather listen to heavy rock acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana or Hole than some of today’s pop bands.

  • In related news, ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is on track to score her first solo No. 1 hit this weekend, early sales in England have shown. Her new single is called “Mi Chico Latino.”
