Actor Vincent Pastore, whose Sopranos character “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero was mercilessly killed for snitching on the mob on the HBO series, got off with community service for a real-life crime.

Pastore pleaded guilty Monday in a New York courtroom to misdemeanor attempted assault, following a fight last April with then-girlfriend Lisa Regina in New York’s Little Italy neighborhood, the Associated Press reports.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Pastore, 59, agreed to perform 70 hours of community service, continue anger-management therapy for six months and pay a $190 fine. The actor initially faced two counts of assault, attempted assault and harassment. And if convicted, Pastore could have been sentenced to as much as a year in jail.

Police said Pastore punched Regina in the back of the head, grabbed her hair, and banged her head on a car gearshift during the April 2 argument. When asked Monday by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Ellen Coin whether he hit Regina, Pastore replied “Yes, I did,” AP reports.

The judge warned Pastore that Regina had filed a protective order against him, and that violating the order could result in jail time for the actor.

Pastore said he intends to complete his community service at a Veterans Administration hospital in the Bronx.

His attorney said the actor has been enrolled for anger-management therapy for 10 months.
