Sophie Snaps Back

Countering claims that her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, wants her to pare back her public relations schedule, the new Countess of Wessex has written to clients to assure them it’s “business as usual.” News reports said the Queen was angry that the former Sophie Rhys-Jones (who married the Queen’s youngest son, Edward, in June) had used her royal connections to secure lucrative contracts for her public relations firm, including the car maker Rover. But in her letter, released Tuesday, the Countess wrote that Buckingham Palace is “supportive of my role” at R-JH Public Relations.
