Sneak Peek: What's in the Issue
PETS IN WEDDINGS!
Jack Russell terrier mix Java served as the ring bearer at Lisa and Warren Berzack's Huntington Beach, Calif., wedding in July. "The rabbi said, 'Can we have the rings?' and my aunt let him out of his carrier to go down the aisle," says Lisa. (Yes, he’s wearing a yarmulke.) Check out more dogs – and a cat! – that were a part of their owner's big day, in PEOPLE's Amazing Real Life Weddings, on newsstands now!
Alexander Loucopoulos booked a zero-gravity flight for Graciela Asturias (who had long dreamed of space travel), and popped the question somewhere over the Atlantic. Plus: A groom-to-be dressed as a knight in shining armor, a televised proposal and more!
Some couples – like Deborah Lewis , 55, and Carl Bisor, 61, of Houston – let their wedding party keep growing... and growing. "The theme was inclusion," says Deborah. "We wanted all of our close family and friends to be involved, and we'd just deal with the number." The final tally? Twenty bridesmaids! And that's not even the largest wedding party we found! (Hint: There are fewer active players on the New York Yankees than in these weddings!)
Meet couples who do it their way – like Tony and Marissa Goldmark, whose reception doubled as a costume party. A biker chick, Batman, a bunny and more joined the couple (dressed as Hogwarts students).
Sarah and Ian Kellogg had no idea that when promising to stay together "in good times and in bad" that the bad times would start immediately! The power went out at the Pine Island, N.H., lake house where their reception was being held, thanks to a huge storm that Sarah, 25, says "was like a wall of water." There was no stove, lights and no working toilets. Still, the couple managed to make the best of the bad situation. See their story, and other couples, who coped with the unexpected (fire! theft!) on their wedding day.
