Residents of a small Sydney, Australia, beach resort are waging a war to keep the U.S. TV lifeguard soap “Baywatch” off their sand. After shooting two episodes of the globally syndicated show last year at Avalon Beach, an idyllic patch of white sand and small shops on Sydney’s northern outskirts, the Californian producer Greg Bonnan wants to move to Avalon permanently. But many Avalon residents don’t want the next Pamela Anderson bouncing along their beach. Avalon residents told Reuters that the trouble began when a local surfer was frog-marched off the beach last year by “Baywatch” staff carrying walkie-talkies, and skateboarders were told to be quiet while the show’s stars took afternoon naps.
