Shoe Business for Santana

Rocker Jerry Garcia had his necktie line, and Regis Philbin, who of late is really rocking, will have his matching monochromatic shirt-and-tie line for this Father’s Day. But this year’s top Grammy winner, Carlos Santana, is about to address a different part of the body: He’s launching his own line of shoes. On Thursday, the Brown Shoe Co. of St. Louis, maker of Buster Brown shoes and Naturalizers, announced its new Carlos fashion footwear label for both sexes. A portion of the sales proceeds will go to the Milagro Foundation, a charity that Santana and his wife began in 1998 to assist young people. The guitarist says his shoes will feature multi-cultural influences and will surface in the nation’s stores this fall.
