The teen heartthrob and the Fifth Harmony singer went on the defensive when the Late Late host asked about their rumored relationship

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello fielded questions about their rumored relationship status like a boss – well, sort of.

The “Stitches” singer, 17, and the Fifth Harmony member, 18, joined James Corden on The Late Late Show Monday to promote their new duet, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” when the host playfully interrogated them.

“Are you two dating?” the British TV personality asked the duo, who looked at each other and denied having a relationship.

“Can I be honest? I don’t believe you,” added Corden, making the teen stars squirm. “There’s no way you haven’t made out?”

“We … We haven’t, actually,” said Mendes. “Every time I try to make a move, she just swears me off. It’s never gonna happen.”

Countered Cabello: “He friend-zones me! He calls me ‘kid’!”

At this point, Corden decided to play relationship counselor the the two, telling them, “You’re both very defensive. It sounds to me like you both might love each other. You don’t know how to commit.”

Despite the host’s peppering, at the end of the clip, both are seen mouthing more denials.

“We’re actually not dating,” said Cabello.

Added Mendes: “We’re not dating.”
