Kelly Osbourne‘s decision to leave Fashion Police in the wake of controversial comments about friend Zendaya‘s dreadlocks has officially made Sharon Osbourne one beaming mum.

“.@KellyOsbourne, I am so proud of you. You can never be bought. You always wear your heart on your sleeve. #ProudToBeYourMum,” Sharon Osbourne Tweeted Friday, the same day E! confirmed Kelly is departing the show after helping to launch the series five years ago.

The elder Osbourne, 62, also memorably walked away from NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2012 in a similar moral stance. The Talk host said she quit the talent show after she learned the network cut ties with her son, Jack Osbourne, after learning about his multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

Kelly, 30, had been vocal in her criticism of the show in the past week, ever since fellow host Giuliana Rancic criticized the dreadlocks Zendaya sported on the Oscars red carpet last Sunday, claiming they must have smelled of “patchouli” and “weed.”

Rancic has since apologized for the comment, and also reportedly told Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush someone else wrote the joke.

Kelly’s decision to leave the show comes just five moths after the death of close friend and fellow Fashion Police co-host Joan Rivers.

Rivers’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, posted a message on her Whosay account Friday night, after it was announced Kelly will leave the show. Melissa serves as an executive producer on the show.

“Kelly Osbourne is a friend and has been a wonderful part of the Fashion Police family. I will miss her terribly and wish her the very best in all of her future endeavors. As my mother always said, the show must go on and I plan to continue in the same spirit.” Rivers wrote.
