MTV matriarch Sharon Osbourne, the wife and manager of Ozzy Osbourne and costar of “The Osbournes,” is “in good spirits and doing well” after undergoing colon cancer surgery last week, the couple’s publicist has told Reuters. When it was announced last week that Sharon was to undergo surgery, the type of cancer was not specified, except to refer to it as being a highly treatable form, the family’s rep said. Still, details remain sketchy, but in a statement the family said the disease was caught in the “very early stages” and Sharon, 50, is expected to make a full recovery. The location of the hospital where the operation occurred has not been disclosed, nor have Sharon’s whereabouts during her convalescence. However, Ozzy, 53, Sharon’s husband of 20 years, will resume his headlining slot at the annual Ozzfest rock tour on Wednesday in Scranton, Pa., reports Reuters. This year’s first two dates for the highly popular gathering — July 6 in Bristow, Va., and July 17 in Pittsburgh — were postponed, apparently because of Sharon’s condition, PEOPLE.com reported July 3, when family spokesperson Lisa Vega was quoted as having told New York’s Daily News: “The family is together. They will be with (Sharon) through her surgery and recovery.”
