Seth Rogen Is Throwing James Franco a Bar Mitzvah
James Franco will finally become a man – all while raising money for charity
At long last, James Franco is becoming a man.
At least in the Jewish sense. Seth Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, are throwing the actor a bar mitzvah on Oct. 17 at the Hollywood Palladium. Unlike the bar mitzvahs of our youth, the event will be ticketed, so as to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, which raises awareness surrounding the disease and supports research for a cure. The event will be put on by the Rogens’ Hilarity for Charity, an organization that aims to “create the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates.”
“Ever since I’ve known James, he’s been talking about wanting a bar mitzvah. We’re excited to see him finally become a man while also helping us raise awareness and funds for people living with Alzheimer’s and towards research that will lead to a cure,” Rogen said in a statement. “And in celebration we’ll also have a mohel and a live bris for James at the event. You don’t want to miss it.”
The joyous occasion will be the fourth annual Hilarity for Charity variety show – last year, the event raised nearly $1 million for the Alzheimer’s Association.

“Five million Americans are currently living with the disease, and it is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S., yet it is the least funded and the only one with no treatment whatsoever,” said Lauren Miller Rogen, whose mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s at 55. “I hope we’re able to capture the attention of more young people and get the disease the type of funding it deserves.
Tickets to Franco’s big day go on sale Aug. 11.
