The "Come & Get It" singer's rep says she was not treated for substance abuse
Selena Gomez checked herself into rehab for two weeks in January, PEOPLE has confirmed.
RadarOnline first reported that Gomez, 21, was quietly admitted to Dawn at the Meadows on Jan. 5. Though the Arizona facility’s website says it treats young patients for a number of addictions, Gomez’s team says the “Come & Get It” singer is not struggling with drugs or alcohol.
“Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,” a rep for Gomez tells PEOPLE.
In December, Gomez shocked fans by cancelling the Australian leg of her Stars Dance concert.
“It has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be,” she said in a statement.
At the time, a source close to the Getaway star added that Gomez needed a break from her busy acting and touring schedule.
“She’s been working nonstop since she was 15 and she wants to take a minute to herself,” the source said.
