Selena Gomez came to the defense of her best friend Taylor Swift Sunday night after Kim Kardashian West leaked footage of the singer’s phone call with her husband Kanye West on Snapchat. “There are more important things to talk about Why can’t people use their voice for something that f—ing matters?” the 23-year-old singer tweeted. “Truth is, last thing we need right now is hate, in any form. This industry is so disappointing yet the most influential smh.” But the “Hands to Myself” singer was quickly criticized for not using her own platform to support social causes in America, such as gun control and Black Lives Matter. One user tweeted to her, “Good question! Why haven’t you or Taylor not said a thing about #BlackLivesMatter or police brutality?” In a tweet that she later deleted, Gomez replied, “So that means if I hashtag something I save lives? No, I could give two f—s about ‘sides.’ You don t know what I do.” WATCH: Taylor Swift-Kim Kardashian Feud: Internet Sides with Kim on #KimExposedTaylorParty Gomez continued to be berated on social media. One Twitter user wrote, “U never speak up on Latina issues and you’re some of the only representation we have, stop embarrassing us.” Another added, “Selena act like she actually uses her voice when all she do is whisper into a turned off microphone.” The Swift drama came to a head after Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians when Kardashian West shared a series of videos on her Snapchat account of a phone call in which Swift allegedly approves of Kanye’s song “Famous” – which includes several unflattering references to Swift. Swift promptly hit back, posting on Instagram that she never heard the full lyrics to the song before it was released and that she never knew she would be referred to as “that bitch.” Gomez wasn’t the only celebrity to weigh in on the Swift versus Kimye feud. Chloë Grace Moretz, Katy Perry, Zendaya, Demi Lovato, Hailey Baldwin and more have commented on the dispute.
