Sean Connery Has Surgery for Kidney Tumor
The veteran 007 star is recovering from surgery a few weeks ago
Sean Connery underwent surgery for a kidney tumor a few weeks ago in New York and is now recovering at his home in the Bahamas, his spokesman said Sunday.
The former PEOPLE Sexiest Man Alive and the screen’s best-remembered James Bond, 75, is ” very fit – he’s 100 percent plus,” the rep, James Barron, tells the Associated Press.
Connery, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II six years ago, told The Sunday Times of London that he “was opened in five places,” and that the operation – which he kept secret except to his family and some close friends – had been a success.
His brother, Neil, told the newspaper that “as far as I’m led to believe, the tumor was benign. He seems to be quite upbeat about it.”
Sean also plans to attend Tartan Day festivities in New York in April, party leader Alex Salmond said.
