Scottie Pippen's Lawyer Addresses Larsa Pippen's 911 Calls Claiming Her Husband Was 'Aggressive'
Scottie Pippen’s lawyer has released a statement after two voice recordings surfaced of his wife Larsa Pippen making calls to police alleging that her husband was being verbally aggressive towards her in early October.
“Mr. Pippen is aware that some members of the press have obtained 911 recordings recently made by Ms. Pippen. While these recordings speak for themselves, Ms. Pippen did not make any allegations of physical violence by Mr. Pippen,” Scottie’s attorney Roberta G. Stanley said in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday. “Although Mr. and Ms. Pippen both have public personas, their divorce is a private matter. Mr. Pippen requests that the press respect his privacy and that of his family during this time.”
PEOPLE previously reported that police were called twice in one week in early October to the former NBA player and Real Housewives of Miami star’s Fort Lauderdale home for domestic disturbances. (A rep for Larsa had no comment.)
On Tuesday, TMZ published the voice recordings of Larsa’s calls to the police. In the first call made Oct. 1, Larsa tearfully tells the responder, “Can you send someone over here? My husband’s being really aggressive with me.” On Oct. 4, she made a second call to Fort Lauderdale Police and told the responder, “My husband’s gotten crazy again with me.”
The calls were made weeks before Scottie filed for divorce from his wife of 19 years, with whom he shares four children: Sophia Pippen, Scotty Pippen Jr., Justin Pippen and Preston Pippen.
According to Florida court records, the NBA legend, 51, filed for divorce from the former Real Housewives of Miami star on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Larsa was notified of the filing that Thursday.
“This is a very difficult time for Mr. Pippen. He is hopeful that the divorce will be swift and amicable,” Stanley said in a previous statement to PEOPLE. “We are respecting his request to protect his privacy and the privacy of his children during the dissolution of marriage proceedings.
