Martina McBride‘s “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” is a sensitive, painfully accurate song about a loved one struggling with cancer. “When you’re weak, I’ll be strong,” McBride sings, “When you let go, I’ll hold on.”

As you can imagine, it is a positively gut-wrenching song. So watching, say, the children’s choir of a public school in Staten Island, New York, sing it to one of their teachers who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer … that’s going to cause a lot of feelings.

Adriana Lopez, the teacher in question at P.S. 22, was moved to tears by the students’ gesture. “It’s not easy, but I will get through it because I have wonderful friends at this school,” she says at the end of the video. Martina McBride would surely agree.
