"It's hard to get married, isn't it, when you're just such a powerful woman who no one can take seriously," Handler said

It’s apparently difficult for powerful women in Hollywood to find husbands, so it looks like they’re taking matters into their own hands.

At least, that was the case on Wednesday’s Chelsea Lately, when Sarah Silverman got down on one knee before host Chelsea Handler.

“It’s hard to get married, isn’t it, when you’re just such a powerful woman who no one can take seriously, and people ask, ‘Why don’t you want to get married?’ ” Handler said, prompting Silverman to take to one knee and pop the question.

Silverman stars alongside Charlize Theron, Giovanni Ribisi, Seth MacFarlane and Liam Neeson in MacFarlane’s Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, opening May 30.

Meanwhile, Handler’s tenure on E! is drawing to a close: The network announced it was pulling the plug on Chelsea Lately (after seven years) in August, before the star’s contract finishes out at the end of the year.
