Sandra Lee Returning Home After Undergoing Double Mastectomy: 'Today Is an Exciting Day'
The chef announced that she is heading home from the hospital to continue her recovery amid her cancer battle
It’s a very special day for Sandra Lee – she is returning home to continue her recovery surrounded by family.
The celebrity chef, 48, who is battling breast cancer and currently healing from a double mastectomy, shared a photo Monday to tell her followers that she is headed home.
The post showed a photo of Lee in her hospital bed, along with the message: “Today is an exciting day! Sandra is going home to [Lily] Pond with her sister Kimber and Governor Cuomo.”
It continued: “She is most excited to sleep in her own bed – and see Phoenix and Halo when she wakes up!”
Lee underwent a double mastectomy Tuesday and has been recovering in the hospital with Cuomo, the governor of New York and her partner of 10 years, by her side. She has also been detailing her cancer journey with Facebook and Twitter videos and posts.
On Saturday, she said in a video update posted to her Facebook: “Both Rita Wilson and Christina Applegate told me I was not gonna be as strong as I thought I was gonna be, and they’re right,” she said of her actress friends, both breast cancer survivors. “It’s really throwing me for a loop.”
And on Monday, Lee posted to her Facebook page a photo of herself and Cuomo (and their pet bird!) at home.
