The year that she accelerated on the big screen in Speed, Sandra Bullock nabs her first PEOPLE cover. "Sandra doesn't have a star attitude," Net director Irwin Winkler says. "People see a lot of themselves in her."
With her first Oscar win and her big baby news, it's probably no surprise Bullock is named PEOPLE's Woman of the Year in 2010. "Bad things happen, but she celebrates the good ones," says a Bullock source. "And Louis is a wonderful celebration of good things."
At this point, Bullock has roles in two big films – Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Gravity – on the docket and Louis growing up. "She is ready for the next chapter of her life," a source tells PEOPLE. And she knows what's most important: "Her No. 1 priority is her son," says the source. "No. 2 is work."
Two years after adopting Louis, Bullock is relishing in birthday parties (at Heidi Klum's house) and preschool drop-offs. "Being a mom is her total focus now," says a Bullock source. Along with her work, "Louis has become her whole life."
It's her role as mom to her 5-year-old son Louis that makes Bullock feel most beautiful every day, she tells PEOPLE. "When I first held him, I realized what my purpose in life was," she says. "I'm the lucky one." The actress adds, "As long as I'm healthy and strong and I don't let this mind of mine run amok with insecurities about what I am not, I can look in the mirror and like who I see."
