Where some Facebook users saw the butt of a joke, San Antonio resident Todd Arredondo saw an opportunity to give back.

According to MySA.com, a now-deleted Facebook photo showed kids playing in their makeshift swimming pool set up in the bed of a pickup truck stationed outside of a public housing apartment complex.

The pic reportedly prompted users to start mocking the neighborhood, but Arredondo went against the grain, using the photo as inspiration for his new campaign, “Pools for Kids.”

“[Commenters] were poking and making fun of the family,” Arredondo, 31, told the outlet on Wednesday. “Everyone was laughing and putting down the West Side.”

Using Facebook to located the pictured family, Arredondo bought an inflatable swimming pool and delivered it to their home himself, MySA.com reports.

“They were making good with what they had,” he added. “It was an amazing experience to see the kiddos so happy and thankful.”

Since gifting his first pool, Arredondo has committed himself to providing pools to more kids who don t have them, and even started a GoFundMe campaign, which has raised over $2,300 dollars in two weeks. Arredondo has also reportedly decided to spend three weeks of his vacation working on the project.

“I had to take a step away and humble myself,” he added. “I’ve met some amazing families and heard heartbreaking stories. But at the end of the day, if you can put a smile on a kid’s face – it’s priceless.”
