Sam Smith is not impressed with industry egos.

In a new interview, the singer put some of his colleagues on notice.

Speaking to Chaka Khan for his V Magazine cover, he opened up about his experience with other music heavyweights.

“Even when you meet them. I won’t name names, but some of these pop stars are just awful,” Smith said in his chat with Khan.

“And they have not even had half the success that you’ve had and yet you’re so humble and kind.”

Given the 2014 the British singer had – six Grammy nominations, including record and song of the year – he has every right not to be humble.

His debut album In The Lonely Hour was the only album to sell a million copies in the US and UK in the past year.

Over the holidays, Smith was able to get some well-deserved downtime: He recently enjoyed a relaxing vacation in Australia with boyfriend Jonathan Ziezel.
