Not long after going public with his new romance with Jonathan Zeizel, Sam Smith appears to be a single man once again.

Before launching into his song, “Good Thing,” at his concert in Toronto on Tuesday night, Smith, 22, announced to the crowd: “This song is very special for me today. It’s because I’ve actually had to do a very similar thing today with someone I’ve been seeing.”

A fan caught the moment on video and posted it on Vine:

“Too much of a good thing won’t be good for long,” Smith sings in “Good Thing,” “Although you made my heart sing, to stay with you would be wrong.”

Smith and Zeizel actually met while shooting the music video for “Like I Can,” which premiered in December.

After the Toronto show, Smith posted an Instagram of himself holding a glass of red wine with an exaggerated pouty face, hinting at the breakup once again in the caption.

“Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell,” he wrote. “It’s been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day.”

Later, he posted a photo of himself on stage with the caption: “I’m an old romantic, that’s what they say to me.”
