Ryan Gosling recently made an appearance on BBC Morning to promote his directorial debut, Lost River, when his phone went off. NBD, right? People’s phones go off all the time.

But Gosling, like the gentleman he is, is mortified.

“Oh my God,” he mutters immediately, before flinging the phone away from him as one would a disappointing hors d’oeuvre or perhaps a serpent.

“I’m ashamed,” he says, and despite host Charlie Stayt’s attempt at mollifying him, he maintains that if the same thing had happened on-set, he’d be forced to “Hulk the shirt off and start swinging.”

We could live with that.
