Rosie O’Donnell’s been a phone-a-friend. Now she plans to sit in the hot seat opposite Regis Philbin. On April 7, Rosie will be one of the celebrity guests on ABC’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” according to the network, which so far has yet to announce who the other stars in the show’s celebrity challenge will be. Those who do appear during the special segments of the program are expected to donate their winnings to charity. For non-Hollywood types, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” is again looking for contestants. For 10 days beginning next Monday, March 20, interested parties may contact the “Millionaire” toll-free qualification number, (800) 433-8321, between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. ET.

  • Meanwhile, another high-profile daytime TV star is planning a stunt of his own. Matt Lauer of NBC’s “Today” intends to hit the road during the May ratings sweeps period for another of the show’s “Where in the World is Matt Lauer?” segments. There will be a twist to the routine this time, reports New York’s Daily News. For the final day of the secret journey around the globe, viewers will pick the spot where they want Matt to go. Get out the milk and cookies.
