Rosie O’Donnell, whose blog, Rosie.com, has been fodder for fans and celebrity news outlets alike in recent years, has decided to stop blogging – for now.

“I’ll take the month off and then see what it feels like to come back to it,” O’Donnell told PEOPLE Wednesday after a rousing performance by Rosie’s Broadway Kids ins Manhattan.

In her trademark haiku form, the former talk show host made the announcement on her blog just the day before:

i am taking off august
in blog-ville
2 c if i can
rosie unplugged
happy summer peeps
peace in
peace out

So what are her fans, who read and write questions to O’Donnell on a daily – sometimes hourly basis –supposed to do without her? “I don’t know,” she said with a laugh. “I’m wondering if I can do it. Every time I watch [the TV show] Intervention I’m like, ‘They need this show for people who need to get off their computers!’ My real addiction is the computer and the blog.”

So why is the famously opinionated former View co-host stopping now? “It gets to a point where it s too much. It’s too draining,” she says. “There’s too much incoming of other people’s opinions and I’m like, ‘Okay, you know what? I’m gonna stop.’ ”

Feedback on the blog has also affected her ability to lock in future projects, including a talk show or variety show she has hinted may find its way to television. “Career-wise, something will be rumored or leaked and then I’ll have 5,000 questions: “Is this true?’ So I m gonna stop for a while.”
