Just one day after her teen daughter Chelsea was found in the home of an alleged heroin addict, Rosie O’Donnell responded to a commenter on Twitter who asked how the incident could have happened.

“BUT @ Rosie IS A Perfect Mom,” Lisa Maracso Tweeted. “How can this be?”

“No mom is perfect – we all do our best,” O’Donnell replied.

O’Donnell’s 17-year-old daughter went missing from her family’s Nyack, New York, home on Aug. 11. She was found in New Jersey on Tuesday, after the former View host contacted police and Tweeted a public appeal for help.

Chelsea, who O’Donnell revealed suffers from mental illness and had gone off her medication, was missing for an entire week, a source tells PEOPLE, and was found in the home of an alleged heroin addict whom she met online.

“Rosie is very concerned about the guy she was found with,” the source added. “Rosie is extremely concerned about everything and is trying to figure out what to do next.”

The star posted a string of Tweets on Wednesday afternoon referencing the alleged criminal past of Steven Sheerer, the man who PEOPLE has confirmed housed Chelsea for a week.

In another Tweet on Wednesday night, O’Donnell seemed to give an insight into her family’s recent struggles.

“When someone you love is drowning in the rapids u throw everything u can into the water hoping they will grab on stay afloat,” she Tweeted. “#believe.”
