Following the nomination, Bryce told PEOPLE that her dad was the first person she called when she heard the good news.

“He’s so funny,” she said. “I called him straight away. It’s so meaningful to be a third generation actor and to have a SAG nomination. It’s awesome.”

As for where she was when she found out that she’d been nominated, in bed of course!

“I was in bed with my kids and then the phone rang and I couldn’t help but think, ‘Oh, my gosh, there is some catastrophe happening,’ because that’s what you think when there’s a phone call at 7 in the morning,” she laughed. “I feel really good. This is so surprising and awesome.”

Bryce’s nomination came in the form of “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series” for her work on the hit Netflix series. Her character, Lacie Pound, appears in the first episode “Nosedive” of season three and  is a young woman who lives in a society where social media and ratings run your life — which she winds up learning has both negative and positive sides.

As for social networks running the 35-year-old’s life, the actress revealed to PEOPLE last month that she only recently took the plunge and joined social media.

“Yeah I just started social media,” she said. “Yeah, this was just one of those things that was impossible to say no to.”

The 23rd annual SAG Awards will be handed out live on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET on TNT and TBS.
