Major league baseball’s controversial John Rocker, 25, reported to the minors on Thursday, joining the Triple-A Richmond Braves, despite his threats to quit baseball rather than be demoted. The former Atlanta Braves pitcher, who was the center of controversy for remarks he made about minorities and gays, did not play in Thursday’s game. Nevertheless, the Richmond Braves beat the Toledo Mud Hens, 10-4.
