In the brouhaha over remarks made by Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker to SPORTS ILLUSTRATED — Rocker took aim at immigrants, gays and minorities — now comes a comment from team owner Ted Turner. “He’s just a kid,” Turner said of the 25-year-old player on CNN’s “Moneyline.” “I think he was off his rocker when he said those things. He’s apologized. I don’t think we ought to hold it against him forever. Let’s give him another chance. He didn’t commit a crime,” said Turner, who is also the founder of CNN and a vice chairman of Time Warner, the parent of PEOPLE. Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig is still deciding whether or not he will suspend or fine Rocker.
