Robin Thicke and Paula Patton's Divorce Is Officially Granted
It’s nearly over for Paula Patton and Robin Thicke.
On March 17, the two were granted a divorce, five months after Patton, 39, first filed, according to papers obtained by PEOPLE.
Their marriage will officially be over on April 14, the papers state.
The pair, who met while they were teenagers, announced their separation in February 2014. “We will always love each other and be best friends. However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” they told PEOPLE at the time.
Patton admits that the past year has been difficult, but she credits her 4-year-old son Julian with helping her move on.
“I mean, the honest truth is, it has been challenging. But it’s been a year of growth … learning about all new things,” she told Good Morning America earlier this month.
“The thing is, you can’t wallow in sadness or stay in bed when you have a child,” she added. “And they’re so full of life and wonder. And he brings me so much joy.”
Meanwhile, it’s been a rough month for Thicke, 38. Last week, he and Pharrell Williams were found guilty of copying Marvin Gaye’s music for their hit song “Blurred Lines.”
The singers were ordered to pay a hefty $7.3 million to Gaye’s family.
