Kick Kennedy Visits the Grave of Her Great Aunt and Namesake in England
The younger Kick Kennedy paid her respects to her namesake
It was a day of reflection for Kick Kennedy.
This week, Kennedy, the daughter of Robert Kennedy Jr. and granddaughter of Robert and Ethel Kennedy visited the grave of her great aunt and namesake, Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy, who died in a plane crash in 1948 at just 28 years old.
The late Kick Kennedy is buried at Chatsworth House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. She was married to Billy, the Marquess of Hartington, who was the heir apparent to the 10th Duke of Devonshire before he was killed in action during World War II in 1944, just four months after their wedding.
The younger Kennedy posted a photo of her great aunt’s grave on Instagram to commemorate the occasion.
“Visiting the gravesite of my great aunt and namesake, Kick Kennedy, in Edensor, England,” she wrote. ” ‘Joy she gave, Joy she has found.’ ”
The visit comes at an especially poignant time for the Kennedy: At 28 years old, she is the same age her namesake was when she was killed.
