The darts just don’t stop flying at Rob Lowe. This time they came from costar Ricky Gervais, though it was all in fun.

Far away from a sexual harassment case in California, Lowe, 44, got into a Nerf gun firefight this week with Gervais and Tina Fey on the set of This Side of the Truth in North Andover, Mass., Gervais, 46, writes on his movie blog.

“It soon got out of hand and in one particular stand-off I shot West Wing star and Hollywood hunk Lowe in the eye,” says Gervais, who also co-directs the movie. “He was fine but it made me think how embarrassing it would be to have to phone up Warner Brothers and explain that the film is delayed because the director blinded one of the stars while ‘having a laugh.’ ”

The solution: ‘I made a rule that everyone had to wear sunglasses,” says Gervais.

The British funnyman says that after the shootout, “I sweated for the first few takes” but it “did not affect my performance. It didn’t affect anything. I always look a bit sweaty.”

“At least,” he adds, “my right eye wasn’t bloodshot like that loser Lowe.”
