Kardashian was first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after being hospitalized in December 2015

More details about Rob Kardashian‘s hospitalization are emerging.

PEOPLE confirmed Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was hospitalized Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Now, an insider tells PEOPLE that Kardashian, 29, “wasn’t feeling well yesterday” and “recognized that his symptoms were diabetes-related,” opting to go to hospital to take care of himself.

“Rob is still in the hospital,” says the source of the star, who was hospitalized exactly one year ago in December 2015 and was subsequently formally diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

“Rob has made some changes to his lifestyle, but all the latest drama with [Blac] Chyna has made him depressed,” says the source. “And he has been on a terrible diet.”

The insider adds that Kardashian “hasn’t been taking care of himself, and that’s why he’s now sick again.”

Though Kardashian previously told PEOPLE during his exclusive cover interview in August that he was diabetes-free — and credited his fiancée Chyna for helping him focus on his health — his weight struggle was still an ongoing theme on the recent season of Rob & Chyna.

After welcoming their daughter Dream Renée Kardashian on Nov. 10, Kardashian vowed to get healthy for his baby, though his drama with his Chyna, 28, has raged on.

Though the two have been on the rocks lately — and have spent some time living separately after Dream’s birth — Chyna was spotted arriving at the hospital to be by Kardashian’s side on Wednesday night. Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner, 61, as well as her boyfriend Corey Gamble were also at the hospital.
